Honey Letter ("the app") is a photo and design editor made by the Honey Letter team ("I", "me"). This page explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your photos and designs stay on your phone, I do not collect personal data, and there are no accounts, ads or tracking.
What stays on your phone
Everything you make or choose in the app is stored only on your device: your designs and projects, the photos you use, stickers you make from your photos, your favorites, your Brand Kit (colours, logos and fonts), your progress in the Learn checklist, and your settings. I cannot see any of it. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. In Settings you can also choose "Delete all my data" to remove it at any time, including the Magic eraser model described below.
Photos and editing
The app asks for access to your photo library so you can choose photos for your designs, and so it can save finished designs to your Photos. All editing happens on your device and your photos are never uploaded. This includes:
- Filters, adjustments, cropping, shapes, rotating, opacity and blending.
- Removing a photo background and making stickers, which use Apple's on-device technology.
- Retouch, Erase and Restore, which change your photo on your device.
- Magic erase, which removes objects using an AI model that runs on your device (see the next section). Your photo and your brush marks are not sent anywhere.
While you edit, the app may keep temporary working copies of a photo in the app's private storage on your phone. They stay on the device and are cleared by the system or when you delete the app.
The Magic erase model (one-time download)
Magic erase uses an open-source AI model called LaMa (Apache License 2.0). It is not built into the app. The first time you use Magic erase, the app downloads the model (about 215 MB) from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) and stores it on your phone. After that, Magic erase works offline.
- The download is a plain file request. The app sends no personal information and none of your photos. Like any internet request, Hugging Face and your internet provider can see technical details such as your IP address. I do not use this to identify you.
- Downloading over mobile data may use your data allowance, so Wi-Fi is recommended.
- You can remove the model at any time with "Delete all my data" in Settings.
Content the app downloads
The app downloads new templates, stickers, frames and lists from a server so they can be added without an app update. This is one-way: the app asks for files and sends no personal information. Like any internet request, the hosting service (Supabase) can see technical details such as your IP address in its server logs. I do not use this to identify you.
Purchases
If you buy Honey Letter Pro (monthly, yearly or lifetime) or a template, the purchase is handled by Apple. I use RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) to check what you have bought and to restore purchases. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier for your installation and your purchase information. I do not receive your name, payment details or Apple ID. See Apple's and RevenueCat's privacy policies for how they handle this data.
What I do not do
- There are no accounts or logins.
- There is no advertising and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- I do not sell or share your data.
- There are no analytics tools in the app.
- Your photos and designs are never uploaded to me or to any AI service.
Sharing you choose
When you save, share or post a design (for example to Instagram or with the share sheet), you choose where it goes. That service's own privacy policy applies after that.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
